Italy / WHO IS THE ROAD HOG “MAX WRIST”? IS HE REALLY THE UNITED STATES SOLDIER EUGENE EDWARD MCMAHEL? WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO STOP HIM AND PREVENT A CAR ACCIDENT? / by Claudio Martino, AIFVS AUFV / 16.10.2016
Over the past year they have appeared, on many Internet platforms, numerous videos in which a motorcyclist, signing himself “Max Wrist”, to show off his skills as a pilot, runs on public roads at speeds extremely high, making dangerous maneuvers, often defying to “compete” other drivers of powerful vehicles.
The first location chosen by “Max Wrist” for his “exploits” were the roads of Vicenza’s province.
Alerted by numerous people’s reports and news reports, the Schio traffic police have been able to go back to his true identity; he would be the American soldier Eugene Edward McMahel, 33, stationed at the barracks Ederle in Vicenza (https://goo.gl/jMon63).
Always according to news sources (https://goo.gl/dJYZVC), the bike of the US military would have been seized and he would be disqualified from driving (with rapid return of the license by the prefecture of Vicenza) and even his story would be the subject of an international controversy about who must judge him, if Italy or the United States.
Despite the measures taken by the judges of Vicenza, “Max Wrist” has recently turned up again, with other videos, in the Modenese area, provoking the reaction of associations of road accident victims (https://goo.gl/JP72iL) and of numerous organs of the media, with great dismay by the public opinion (https://goo.gl/JkDMNn).
Il seems there is no doubt that the road hog “Max Wrist” is identifiable as the US soldier Eugene Edward McMahel, even because no one has denied or refuted this news item.
Just as there has been no denial to the fact that, despite the obvious dangerousness of his conduct, to the US military the license has been promptly returned.
The most incredible thing is that the only intervention by the authorities from which the USA soldier would depend, would be the request, to the Italian courts, not to proceed against McMahel.
At this point it is expected that the Italian Interior, Justice and Foreign Affairs Ministers make every step, within their competence, to prevent the continuation of this sad situation, which could have serious implications in the delicate relations between the US Army and the Italian State that hosts it (let’s think of the possible reactions of the Italian public opinion, still mindful of the Cermis massacre – https://goo.gl/i9NnGX -, in case of a fatal accident).
